The Art of Preservation
GARMENT CARE
Proper care and attention are essential to keeping your kimono vibrant, clean, and long-lasting. However, it is equally important to handle it correctly to avoid any damage and preserve its beauty for years to come.
Washing
Traditionally, a kimono would be carefully taken apart for washing and then re-assembled for wearing. To ensure your kimono receives the proper care, we recommend professional dry cleaning. If your kimono features gold embroidery or other delicate details, please inform your dry cleaner so these elements can be properly protected.
Ironing
To protect the silk and prevent shine or damage, always place a thin cotton cloth over the kimono before ironing. Use a dry iron at a very low temperature, and never allow the iron to touch the silk directly, as this may cause burns or marks on the delicate fabric and stitching.
How to fold a Kimono
Like many traditional Japanese garments, kimonos have specific folding methods. Proper folding helps preserve the fabric and prevents creasing when the garment is stored, ensuring it remains beautiful for years to come.
