1926–2089 (Shōwa Period) Vintage Two-layered Black Haori
This rare vintage black haori is constructed from two delicate layers of fabric. The sheer outer layer subtly reveals the inner pattern beneath, creating depth, movement, and a quiet visual tension. Lightweight and breathable, it drapes effortlessly with a sense of refined coolness.
Originally developed in the Taishō era, this style was created for a shop’s most loyal patrons, clients who had purchased so many kimono there was little left to offer them. As a gesture of appreciation, these special double-layered haori were made exclusively for those connoisseurs.
The design later gained cultural recognition when geishas in Tokyo’s Shinbashi district adopted the sha-awase haori, elevating it into a symbol of understated elegance. Today, it remains a poetic expression of Japanese heritage and modern versatility.
Material: 100% silk
Due to the unique, one-of-a-kind nature of each kimono, all sales are final.
